On October 21, 2026, the team behind PHP released an important security update covering multiple versions (PHP 8.2 through 8.5).

In Laymanโ€™s Terms: What Happened & Why It Matters

Think of PHP as the engine running under the hood of many websites. Every now and then, engineers discover a tiny crack in part of that engine. A security patch is simply a quick tune-up to seal that crack before anyone can misuse it.

Here is what this update means for your website:

If you host your WordPress (or WooCommerce) website with us, You are 100% protected. Because our managed infrastructure applies updates automatically, your site was patched the moment the security update was released. You don’t need to lift a finger.

If your site is on Squarespace or Shopify: You are completely immune. These platforms don’t run on PHP at all (they use entirely different technology stacks), so this security update doesn’t apply to you.

If your site is hosted elsewhere youโ€™ll want to check with your hosting providerโ€™s support team to confirm that your server has been updated to the latest version (PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, or 8.2.35) because PHP updates happen at the server level, so you probably won’t have access to it manage it yourself.

If you host elsewhere and aren’t sure if your site is updated or if youโ€™d rather not worry about server updates ever again; Reach out to us! Weโ€™d be happy to discuss moving your site over to our fully managed hosting.
